Mrs. Sara Ruthven joined the LMA faculty in 1992 when the new magnet school first opened its doors on the campus of Jesse Keen Elementary. She transferred from Mulberry High School where she taught Biology and Anatomy and Physiology, was chairman of the science department and senior class sponsor. A long time Polk County teacher, she began her science teaching career at Southwest Junior High. In addition to the classroom, she enjoyed many years on the board of the Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center. She retired from L.C.M.A. in 1999 and is now giving time to her animals and gardening, and serving as Moderator of Presbyterian Women at her church.
