(body)Ms. June Fortney, guidance counselor, came to Lawton Chiles Middle Academy in 1992. She was one of the inaugural faculty members hired at the inception of this school.  Her former teaching assignments were at Carlton Palmore and Mulberry Middle, where she was also named Teacher of the Year in 1991.  Ms. Fortney was honored as a Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 1999, and was awarded her very own blue Wal-Mart vest. As a guidance counselor, she has exceeded ordinary expectations as she directs students and parents through the maze of the middle years.
