Mrs. Julie Morton, one of our reading teachers, came to
Lawton Chiles Middle Academy in August of 2000.
During her thirty-four year career she has
taught second, fourth, and fifth grades as well
as a myriad of subjects in sixth, seventh, and
eighth grade.
Mrs. Morton is a product of the Polk County
School System and actually attended LCMA when it
was Lakeland Junior High during the seventh and
eighth grades. She graduated from Lakeland High,
and earned both her BS and MS degree from the
University of South Florida.
She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an
educational society for key women educators, a
multiple honoree for Who’s Who Among America’s
Teachers, and has been Teacher of the Year at
Carlton Palmore Elementary and Rochelle School
of the Arts.
She and her husband, Jerry, have been married
for thirty-four years. They have a lovely and
musically talented daughter, Mandy, and two
precious grand dogs, O’Malley and Macy. Mrs.
Morton loves to read, learn, garden, and explore
nature on the Chassahowitska River.
