Mrs. Julie Morton, one of our reading teachers, came to Lawton Chiles Middle Academy in August of 2000. During her thirty-four year career she has taught second, fourth, and fifth grades as well as a myriad of subjects in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.
Mrs. Morton is a product of the Polk County School System and actually attended LCMA when it was Lakeland Junior High during the seventh and eighth grades. She graduated from Lakeland High, and earned both her BS and MS degree from the University of South Florida.
She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an educational society for key women educators, a multiple honoree for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and has been Teacher of the Year at Carlton Palmore Elementary and Rochelle School of the Arts.
She and her husband, Jerry, have been married for thirty-four years. They have a lovely and musically talented daughter, Mandy, and two precious grand dogs, O’Malley and Macy. Mrs. Morton loves to read, learn, garden, and explore nature on the Chassahowitska River.
