Place Regional Winners
Three LCMA students have won eCybermission's
regional competition sponsored by the US Army.
The project was centered around the endangered
gopher tortoise. These students and their
classmates worked to help find a home for 23
tortoises that needed a new home, their land is
being developed. Through their research they
learned that reclaimed phosphate land would make
a good home for these tortoises. They surveyed
the land for FDEP and created a GIS map to help
in the permitting process. The tortoises will
have a new home in Homeland on reclaimed
phosphate land.
