Ladies of Distinction
Sponsor: Crysandra ChatmanThe club’s emphasis is career
exploration with a focus on interpersonal skills development.
Skills include displaying a cooperative attitude,
self-awareness, self-esteem issues, conflict resolution,
cultural diversity and etiquette training. Students will go on a
number of outings to local restaurants and cultural events. The
events will increase students’ knowledge of career choices,
facilitate community awareness and provide cultural exposure.
This club meets on the first and third Thursdays from 2:30 p.m.
– 3:30 p.m. Dues are $10.00.

Music is one of the seven intelligences identified in the
brain and the only one that utilizes all seven intelligences
simultaneously. Participating in a music class offers
opportunities to perform, attend concerts and field trips to
various places. Music students meet on Mondays and Tuesdays
after school.

Math Counts
Sponsor: Dr. Jim Winegar
Math Counts is an activity for 7th and 8th grade students
with exceptional math ability and an interest in learning to
solve challenging problems. Skills learned are useful on math
tests such as the SAT or ACT exams and in high school math
classes. The top eight students will represent the school in the
spring at a county level tournament. Top county teams go on to
the state tournament. The Math Counts team will meet every
Wednesday.
National Junior Honor Society

Hour Form
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is both an
honor and a responsibility. Students are selected the second
semester of their 7th grade year at L.C.M.A. A selection
criterion is based on a minimum 3.5
G.P.A., service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Members are expected to maintain the 3.5 G.P.A., give a
minimum of 2.5 hours of monthly service to their school or
community and continue to demonstrate the high standards of
character and citizenship. The Honor Society meets every 9
weeks. There is a $5 induction fee.
Science Olympiad Club

This club is for 6th-8th grade students who wish to
participate in the annual State Science Olympiad Competition
held in March in Orlando. Meeting times will be announced in
advance. Dues are $10.00.
Student Council
Sponsor: Beth Row
Membership in the Student Council is comprised of one student
from every peer class. Student Council representatives are
elected by their classmates to report the views of their
classmates at each Student Council meeting. The Council meetings
are held before school as announced. |
