Band

Your band director, Jane Sholine, is looking forward to working with you and know we will have an excellent year. Cooperation and hard work is essential between band students, the director, band parents and administration in achieving our goals. Please read our band handbook and return the band contract and any additional forms by Friday, August 26, 2011. To achieve success, we must all work together, establish high ideals, and do our very best work.

Music is a demanding subject, and if mastered, will produce a lifetime of benefits that improve the quality of one’s life. More than any other subject, music has the power to touch the mind and spirit of those who perform and listen. The benefits conveyed by music education can be grouped into four categories:

The LCMA Band Booster Club promotes and supports the LCMA Band program. Due to limited funding, the majority of the operating expenses are paid for by generous donations from Band Boosters. Approved volunteers are a valuable part of the band program. Many opportunities are available to become involved.

A rich tradition of superior bands has been at established at LCMA. Daily practice is encouraged and students are required to turn in monthly practice chart. Another great asset is private instruction to help students reach their full potential. Advanced musicians are encouraged to participate in All County Band auditions and All State Band auditions and Solo/Ensemble festival.

Participation in scheduled performances is mandatory. Please check the band calendar to keep informed.
