PE/Sports
The
Physical Education facilities consist of a full size gym with a court marked
for basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey, badminton and volleyball. We have
four standard size, moveable basketball goals, hockey goals, soccer goals,
badminton and volleyball nets. Our gym is also fully equipped with a weight
lifting section consisting of machines such as leg extension, free weights,
leg curl, lat pull down, bench press, balance beam, free weights, squatting
bar, exercise balls and jump ropes. Our gym has a rope for students to
climb, monkey bars/horizontal ladder and a horizontal climbing wall to build
upper body strength. We have equipment to play basketball, soccer,
badminton, hockey, baseball, softball, flag football, volleyball, dodge
ball, bowling, inline skating, table tennis, pool and tetherball. Students
have bleachers where they sit for roll call and instruction and a locker
room for boys and another for girls, that are equipped with showers.
As a school preparing to be an IB school we introduce sports from around
the world like cricket, hurling, rugby and Gaelic football. Students will
also have the opportunity to develop cultural dances from around the world
which will be performed by students and graded by the coach. This gives the
students the opportunity to explore and learn about other cultures and their
sporting activities. We also provide students the opportunity to participate
in extramural sports teams such as girls and boys basketball, tennis, golf,
and soccer. The athletes practice after school hours and play home and away
games against others school teams. This competition develops great
friendships, teamwork and a good work ethic for students.
