  Book of the Month Club

The L.C.M.A. Book of the Month Club is open to any student who loves to read! Members are expected to read the monthly designated book and attend each "Read-In" where the book will be discussed. In addition, members will be encouraged to read the fifteen Sunshine State Young Reader award books and keep a journal on their readings. This club meets on the second Thursday of every month. Dues are $5.00 for the year.

Chess Team
   Sponsors: Jessica Rogers, Sue Harwell, Amera Wiseman

The Chess Team at L.C.M.A. participates in Polk Scholastic Chess. This organization is an Invitational Chess Tournament League for students in grades K - 12. The Chess Club meets the second and fourth Thursday from September to February (chess season). Dues are $30.00 payable directly to Polk Scholastic Chess. E-Team

E-Team is an activity for 6th - 8th grade students who have an interest in economics. There will be three six-member teams, one for each grade level that will represent the school at the Spring county level tournament. The E-Team will meet on Wednesdays.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

F.C.A. is a student-led club that is dedicated to building a caring and accepting community where those seeking a deeper spiritual life are accepted and encouraged. Membership is open to all L.C.M.A. students. F.C.A. will meet the first and third Thursday of each month. Dues are $3 for the year.

Future Business Leaders of America
   Sponsor: Reginald Patterson

F.B.L.A. is a non-profit, local, district, state, and nationally affiliated organization for middle and high school students participating in business programs. F.B.L.A.’s mission is: To bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. L.C.M.A. meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. Dues are $20.00 per year.

Music Department
   Directors: Christina Baker, Jane Sholine

Music is one of the seven intelligences identified in the brain and the only one that utilizes all seven intelligences simultaneously. Participating in a music class offers opportunities to perform, attend concerts and field trips to various places. Music students meet on Mondays and Tuesdays after school.

Math Counts
   Sponsor: Michelle DiGioia

Math Counts is an activity for 7th and 8th grade students with exceptional math ability and an interest in learning to solve challenging problems. Skills learned are useful on math tests such as the SAT or ACT exams and in high school math classes. The top eight students will represent the school in the spring at a county level tournament. Top county teams go on to the state tournament. The Math Counts team will meet on Wednesdays.

National Junior Honor Society
   Sponsors: Felicia Jackson, Donna Jones, Sue LeRoy, and Luanne Hoch

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Students are selected the second semester of their 7th grade year at L.C.M.A. A selection criterion is based on a minimum 3.5 G.P.A., service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Members are expected to maintain the 3.5 G.P.A., give a minimum of 2.5 hours of monthly service to their school or community and continue to demonstrate the high standards of character and citizenship. The Honor Society meets every nine weeks. There is a $10.00 induction fee. Click here for Service Hours Form.

Student Council

Membership in the Student Council is comprised of one student from every 1st period class. Student Council representatives are elected by their classmates to report the views of their classmates at each Student Council meeting. The Council meetings are held before school as announced.

Drama Club
  Sponsor: Cherie Mask

LCMA Drama Club is for students interested in Performing Arts. The students will learn and practice acting, stage presence, vocal performance and a variety of performing arts skills. An audition and interview will be required for membership. The goal of the Drama Club is to perform a live production near the end of the school year.
